Me Before YOU
This is a wonderfully written story about how two people can teach each other the meaning of life from
very different vantage points. The book is about learning to live life on your own terms and take nothing
for granted. The story: A woman is hired to take care of a man in a wheelchair for life - there is no
hope that he will get better physically. The woman has a limited life and the person in the wheelchair
has a very full life before his accident. Over time, they share information and affection that is enlightening
to each other. The man wants to die and the woman wants to learn how to live. Very beautifully told.

Rick
Rick is in middle school and Jeff has been his best friend for years. But even Rick can admit Jeff is a bully and can act like a jerk and that's the reason why Rick doesn't tell his friend he is interested in attending meetings of the school's Rainbow Spectrum club. The club provides an opportunity for kids of different genders and identities to get together and have discussions in a safe environment. Rick has never experienced romantic feelings towards a male or female and that is one reason he is open to seeing what the club has to offer.
This is a middle grade book but I do encourage readers of all ages to check this one out. I think the author did a good job explaining what each letter or symbol stands for in LGBTQIAP+ within the story as well as the use of pronouns. The book is informative but in my opinion it doesn't get too bogged down and fits well within the context of the story. And what's great about this book is I walked away actually feeling like I learned a thing or two.
Nick and Charlie
Content Warning: Mental Health Issues and Eating Disorder. Nick and Charlie follows Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring at the beginning of summer. This is Nick’s last summer before going to University and whilst he is so excited for it, Charlie is secretly worried that he is being left behind. Which is such a real thing that couples go through at this age. My favourite character was Charlie Spring and I didn’t have a least favourite. I recommend this book because it’s real, it’s relatable, it shows that these two lovable characters have flaws and they’re still lovable. And I might have fangirled a bit over Nick Nelson applying for university in the same city as me. ‘I used to think I was pathetic for thinking soppy, romantic stuff like that. I don’t anymore. I just keep thinking it. I keep wanting him here. I keep wanting him to stay.’
Refreshing and natural love story which every teenager currently in a relationship will identify with, irrespective of gender or sexuality.
A great sequel to the truly wonderfu

Mystery of Allegra, The
It's something about turning around and seeing a girl. It develops quickly, so it's a quick read. I might cry if I saw a girl standing next to my bed, even though I thought I had locked the windows and the door. I'm four months overdue, so I'll pay it back.
Studio Ghibli : The Films of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata
I thought it was an English translation of a Ghibli animation, but it was not. However, there were places where the dialogue was translated, and the difference in nuance between Japanese and English was interesting. There was also an analysis of the characterisation of the characters in Ghibli's anime, and it said that the word "素直" in Japanese is difficult to translate into English. It is quite fun to look at Japan from a foreign perspective!
Call Me by Your Name
The story deals amply with human intimacy. The intimacy that makes you understand every shred of another human being makes you relate to someone at such a level that you identify that person as part of your very identity. Such connection rarely occurs, and even if it does, it's once in a lifetime thing. But it's the most special I originally read the book because I liked the original. At first, I took to call me by your name to mean exactly what it means, but then I thought that for the two of them, calling each other by name means that they are so close that the boundary between themselves and the other person disappears, like paints mixing. Easier to read than the Japanese translation. the thing that can happen to you even if you are a million miles apart from each other and all that you need to survive is nostalgia and a bittersweet feeling that you were a part of something beautiful.
House At Pooh Corner, The
A boy is sleeping in his room and the door is open when it should be closed... A bit of a horror story, but quite funny.
