This story was about “Little Princess ” which we read in OBW class in junior 3. This book was a longer than OBW’s and I could find a little difference between them. It’s interesting to find differences so please try to read!

ずっと読んでみたかった本。自分のことで精一杯の世の中、今だからこそ読んでおきたい本だと思う。私がグッと来た部分は「喜捨」と、「人からの心配りで心身ともに生き延びる」ところ。(読んだ人はわかると思う) 最初から最後までステキ表現のオンパレードだが、一つメモ。 If Nature has made you for a giver, your hands are born open, and so is your heart; and though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is always full, and you can give things out of that -- warm things, kind things, sweet things -- help and comfort and laughter -- and sometimes gay, kind laughter is the best help of all.

OCC (Oxford Children's Classics) のシリーズで、complete and unabridged 版。つまり原書。 こどものころ読んだ翻訳とかなり一致していたけれど、やはりあの時読んだのはかなり省略されていたのだとわかった。とても読みでがあった。 昔は Sara はいい子すぎて好きになれない時もあったけれど、今は彼女の苦しさとつらさや、その上での空想の素晴らしさが理解できる。彼女の精神の尊さに（彼女と自分の年齢差は関係なく）感動した。 英語で読むと、Becky のことばが Sara や学校の生徒達のことばとこうも違うのかと驚かされる。 新しい単語がたくさんあった。gay とか。

子供の頃から大好きなお話で何回も読んでいるのにSaraのかわいそうな日々にはつい、涙。最後のエピソードは、長いversionでは、もっといいので、是非、長いversionも！ 

お父さんがなくなったのがかわいそうだと思ったが、一生懸命働いていて偉いと思った。

Princessという題名だったので姫の話だと思っていたけれど違った。結末が悲しくて切ない気持ちになった。でも、OBWの中で初めて自主的に最後まで読み切ったので達成感はあった。

This book is main character,Sara's life story. This book gives me power to live.

I had read this story written by more easy English before, but I could read this with a different sort of feelings. I think the word “princess” has different types of meanings, a good one and a bad one. In this story, I thought “princess” is a bad, negative word at first. However, nowI think it is a good word. I think the princess who is independent and have her own policy is good princess.
