Poor elephant man... I wonder what we would do if there were an elephant man in the real world.

He was ugly, but he had a normal feeling. I think he was happy.

Until I finished reading, I decided this story was a fiction, but the back cover said this book is a true story and there is a film of this. And my mother and father know the movie and they had watched that once. So I felt a little bit scared because of I knew the Elephant Man was a real person.

Mr MerrickがDr Trevesと出会い、徐々に心を開いていくところが心に残った。このお話が実話だと知り、衝撃を受けた。

本当に好きな話で2回目の読みだった。昔はMerrickが死んでしまうときになぜ死んでしまったのかわからなかったが、今回読んで普通の人と同じように寝たい、という何とも切ない願いが根底にあったのだと思うと泣けてきた。   

初めは見た目が酷くElephant manと言われてしまうまでで本人も自分自身に自信が持てていなかったが、Dr Frederickとの出会いをきっかけに世の中の人に知ってもらい寄付金によって最高の幸せを送れるようになって本当に良かった。

怖い悲しいお話かと思ったら、いいお話しでした。過去に映画化されて有名になりましたが、これが実話だとは知りませんでした。本当にあったことだと知って☆☆☆☆☆にしました。
